I was wondering if anybody is feeding their horses Chia Seeds? I have heard a lot of good things about them (apparently a Superfood) and would like to know your experiences.

Hi Noisy, I feed chia seeds to my horses as well as the dogs, cat and ourselves. They are all super shiny, I put them in feed while its soaking so it turns into a gel to help metabolize sugar slower/alkanalise the gut. I've seen an improvement in their feet and they also appear to hold their muscle better (prob due to the protein). Hard to attribute just to chia though as I feed other stuff and have had heaps of grass over winter (after having none the last 2 years). Pretty sure its helping keep my 15yr old dog alive tho, he has really bad gastric reflux and since starting daily chia gel he has gotten way better. I only feed it to the horses at this stage cos I can get it cheap tho, otherwise they would have to miss out!
